Since our inception, the imagery of trees and growth has been woven into the fabric of our College. The Pine Tree, a symbolic wreath on our logo, represents this legacy. In 2005, we planted 88 Pine Trees on the bottom Primary oval to honour our 88 Foundation students and their families.
In 2009, our Year 8 cohort planted 14 Tulipwood trees, marking their journey to becoming our first Year 12 graduates in 2013. These trees continue to flourish on our grounds, a testament to their enduring legacy.
Today, 20 more Australian Tulipwood (Harpulia pendula) trees line the path from the Café to the oval, providing much-needed shade for our Secondary students, with the potential for future tables and seating under these trees. The 20 trees were purchased by our parent committee, TLCCA. The City of Moreton Bay also awarded us a grant for $2,500 towards the 20 Trees for 20 Years project. Special thanks to Councillor Jodie Shipway and our TLC Community Association for their support.
Here’s what some of our students had to say about the new trees:
- Leith: "I can't wait!"
- Prahaan: "I'm excited to see them grow in their natural place."
- Zoe: "They look very good."
- Emellia: "There's 20!"
- Behta: "Walking past them is nice to see."
These trees are more than just plants; they are a living legacy of our community's growth and commitment to the future.
